Disinfection

Typhon have developed the worlds first validated UV LED disinfection system designed specifically for large scale municipal drinking water and industrial process water applications.

The system is USEPA validated with proven performance for the inactivation of pathogens such as Cryptosporidium, Giardia and Viruses.

Water Reuse

Water scarcity around the world is driving an increased reliance on reusing the water available to us.

AOP (Advanced Oxidation Process)

So called emerging contaminants enter our water supplies through many paths: 

  • Taste and odor compounds, such as geosmin and 2-MIB, occur naturally due to algal blooms in our rivers and lakes
  • Up to 90% of oral drugs pass through the human body while detergents and cosmetics are literally flushed down the drain introducing EDCs,  pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PCPs) to the environment.
  • Agriculture contributes herbicides and pesticides
  • Industrial wastewater discharge can contain pollutants such as NDMA and 1,4-Dioxane.

Conventional water treatment processes allow such contaminants to pass untreated posing a threat to human health and the environment. 

Typhon UV LED combines with Sodium Hypochlorite to produce an Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) which uses the oxidizing power of hydroxyl radicals to remove these contaminants effectively, efficiently and without the potential for harmful byproduct formation.

De-Chlorination

Many industrial business require chlorine free water - whether that be ultrapure water for pharmaceutical and cosmetic manufacture or the removal of any associated taste or odour for breweries or soft drink makers. 

Traditional methods of chlorine removal are Activated Carbon Filtration or Sodium Metabisulphite dosing which require significant operator involvement and are prone to microbial contamination.

UV light can be used to remove or reduce the chlorine content of water and the peak wavelength for absorbance of UV light by chlorine is at 292nm.

The unique features of UV LEDs allow Typhon to operate with 292nm LEDs delivering a very efficient, targeted and chemical free de-chlorination process.
