AOP (Advanced Oxidation Process)

Pathogens continue to develop immunity to disinfection processes and as we identify new contaminants a we need to stay ahead. Microorganisms are becoming more tolerant to chlorine treatment and the goal for operators is drive down disinfection by-products. So how do they cope with new and emerging contaminants such as pesticides, Pharmaceuticals, personal care products (PPCPs), or synthetic organics washing into the aquifer. These contaminants are referred to as Compounds of Emerging Concern (CEC) and very few drinking water treatment processes can deal with these CECs. Typhon's Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP)  system is used to destroy persistent CECs / micropollutants such as:

  • metaldehyde
  • geosmin
  • N-Nitrosodimethylamine
  • other hard-to-treat residual chemicals found in drinking water sources
